As we were near the border with Bulgaria and we have been working for a while on this plane, we organized a day trip to the Balchik Castle (Queen Mary’s Castle) and Cape Caliacra. On the way back, we added a shortstop to Dalboka, the shellfish farm with a restaurant that I read a lot of things about and so I set up a busy day to the Bulgarian neighbors. Let’s leave the plan and focus on Balchik Castle. The first and first time, how do you reach Balchik Castle?From Neptune, you do theoretically a little more than an hour to Balchik. Basically, after adding your time to customs, you might be about an hour and a half depending on traffic. The road is good, Waze is doing its job, gasoline is cheaper for Bulgarians.

The exterior of the villa harmoniously combines architectural influences from the Ottoman and Bulgarian lands, the result of which is split from a fairy tale: the Turkish minaret rising above the roof of the red tile, the wooden balconies, the green terraces, and the beach that borders the white villa, you understand why the Queen was in love with Balchik. Far from taking the thought of a castle, the interior is arranged in a simple, austere way, with small rooms decorated with solid wood furniture.
