Mind you, progressive projects do not show up.any help here?MODEL: BENQ E2200HD series 22'COST: $245PIXELS: 1920x1080WORKS: HDV 1440x1080 (and 1920x1080) 50i PAL 50 hzSD 720x576 50i PAL 50 hz (but scales image to full screen)AFTER EFFECTS: Awesome full preview, even scales qtr res down to qtr size within the screen (proof of 1:1 pixel mapping) I wish edius did the same for 4:3 and SD projects, but instead scales them up to full screen.DOESN'T WORK: All the progressive formatsSo for $245 AU, its awesome for HDV editing.Hope this helps, I'm happy as:). Bought a Sony Bravia 19' LCD TV. Model KDL-19L4000 as a preview monitor for my HD Spark and HD Storm cards.Tried it with the HD Spark so far and all works fine with SD and HD. EXCELLENT picture quality, in both SD and HD.Been reading on the threads that we should stick to 16:9. This screen is 16:10 and all is fine. It displays 16:9 with a very small border on top and bottom. It is 1680x1050, 5.3 mega pixel and has a higher pixel/inch density than the 20' Sonys with 1366x768 resolutions.Cost me £209 here in the UK.

This is true although it works at HD PAL sizes and 16:9 SD. It does not work at 4:3 SD.Our tests with the BenQ 2400HD give a very good picture at HD (1920 & 1440 @ 50hz) but it does not work at either 16:9 or 4:3 SD @ 50Hz but appears to work with 16:9 SD 60hz (NTSC).SD support on lots of HDMI monitor has been really poor with the Storm and Spark. The same monitors that will not work with the Thompson cards will work with the Black Magic cards.

I don't know why right now. Just letting everyone know that this monitor works fine with HDSpark:Dell S2209W (22') or S2409W (24').It is a 1920x1080 native display with DVI in (You will need a HDMI-to-DVI cable, which is very cheap). It plays 1080/720/480 (although 4:3 is stretched to fit the screen). I went through 3 monitors and found this one to be a good one.

There is no 1:1 pixel mapping, though. The HDSpark outputs 1920x1080 or 1280x720 so even your 1440x1080 HDV stuff will go out as 1920x1080. DVCPROHD 1280x1080 / 960x720 also works fine. I just connected my HD spark with AOC 19' Wide - 917Fwh with and HDMI cable and I have a nice preview of my HD footage now straight from Edius.

I am wondering though, is it possible to make any set up (test) of colors, brightness and contrast on my monitor to be sure that the picture that I see is real and relevant??PLEASE HELP!!!Check this post (I put up a page that tells you how to calibrate monitors. You should probably skip the 'blue only' part since these monitors don't have any professional features like that. New Edius user here.

Just set up my new computer with Edius 5 and HDspark card hooked up to a 19 Samsung LN19A330. SD and HD playback great thru HDMI (tried 1080i, 720p, and 480i). I also have a second older computer hooked up via Matrox card/premiere to it by S-VHS. It is amazingly sharp and color accurate.

This is a very good HDTV for the money and when I ran color bars to it to calibrate no adjustment was needed. I think this model has now been replaced with a new unit but there are still some out there. I got mine at Fry's for $289. I then noticed that B&H has them for $269. Hope this is helpful. As a side note I first tried a Vizio 22' t.v.

And it looked terrible. I am now one happy camper. I have HD Spark with a 32 inch Samsung b650, 1080p, 120hz.Picture is very nice. I used Edius bars to set up the TV.

Very little adjustment was needed.Don't laugh.the image was almost too sharp. In all my years of shooting HD I've never seen such a picture. Until now, the camera viewfinder, the small field monitor, Edius inlay, and final broadcast all have had drawbacks.More impressed than ever with my HVX 200 (P2).I highly recommend Spark and this monitor.jimEDIT: On the Samsung you might need to turn off Auto Motion Plus 120hz. This is a great setting for sports but for watching dramas like CSI and movies the picture will look crystal sharp.very 'interlacey'. 120hz is highly touted but seems to eliminate film motion. It has a slight effect on 30p as well.

Problem is finding small plasmas with outstanding blacksYep my sentiments also. I better go with this model then, also had the same in mind.42 inch (or larger) plasma on a 2 feet distance, I think I'll need welding glasses:)At least the 32 inch is cheap so that when something better (plasma) comes along I can pass on to the kids with no looking back:)Thanks.p.s. How does this unit scale SD from the NX, small size i hope with blacks on all sides?Component SD / HD no issues I assume? Samsung 23' P2370HD works in both full HD and SD with the HDSpark card. This is a really nice little monitor and is full HD 1920 X 1080. The picture is awesome and the cabinet is really elegant. I'm loving it.

Highly recommend it to someone looking for full Hd. Can be bought for a little over $300 now.was also looking at the 2333HD, can't tell much difference.

Tell me, is the tuner in these HD or SD? It does not specify which makes me think it's SD.

Do you think Dave that the Spark would be different to the Storm for compatible monitors or the OP made a mistake? This is bad news if they are different. Why can't GV fix this, it is their problem as far as I can tell.No the OP didn't make a mistake. The Samsung P2370HD works with my HDSpark card in HD and SD mode via the HDMI. I can't speak for any other cards. Also I think this monitor has a fabulous picture and I am impressed with it. I looked at many monitors before deciding to buy this one. This was one of the best that I viewed.

I am very happy with it so far. Thank you Dave. You have a very nice community going on here guys, looking to be part of it.So samsung 2370hd supports 4/3 50i SD and 720 50p as an inputfrom the Spark, wright? What are the benefits of using HDMI instead of component? Is it the amount of different input signals a monitor will accept? Can those monitors with HDMI be used for rough picture evaluationeg contrast/brightness, whitebalance, safe area?Thank you guys for your input, I hope it is alright to ask all those questions in one post.:). Looking to get an HDspark card (and a smallish HDTV as my preview monitor.I was looking at this Viewsonic 16' HDTV (as a potential preview monitor, but STORMDAVE advised (against it.This is my first time attempting this kind of setup and wanted to keep it within a reasonable budget so any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what HDTV to even try and I'm confused as to whether I should get a 720p or 1080p. I'm also confused about whether to get an actual HDTV or a monitor that has HDMI so that I can use it as the Preview monitor. My budget is small so any best bank for the buck recommendations?TIA. Do you get 24p output on that monitor? The pioneer accepts 24p 1080p and then repeats each frame once to make 72hz. I was able to view a couple of my 24p HDV files the other from the spark the other day. I wasnt happy with my 24p footage though. I shot 24p in auto mode on the canon XH-A1.

It was not nearly as good as my footage shot in 60i. But now I know more about the cameras shutter and aperature to shoot in manual mode which should get ne better results. This weekend im going to shoot some tests in 24f in manual mode with different camera presets. Here in Asia still plenty on display to purchase:)I actually wanted a plasma because of the superior picture quality but after seeing a unit being used daily for a year I changed my mind. The plasma unit had burn-in symptoms from frequently using 4x3 image on the 16x9 screen. When the Panasonic Viera displayed a 16x9 image the center 4x3 area was clearly more dimmed than the side, just something to keep in mind.Image quality wise I'm quite pleased (not happy) with my LED panel, but clearly the Plasma is the winner in picture, hands down.I still miss my CRT, no doubt. Hey everyone,After comparing 4 or 5 sets (mostly in the 22' to 24' models) I finally settled on the Samsung UN22D5003 22-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV. It's listing for anywhere from $165 to $219 online. Very impressed with the picture and picture controls.

Sharp as a tack at 1080i, with ample picture controls to adjust the pix to near perfection: sharpness, brightness, backlight, contrast, hue, color, gamma, edging, white balance, etc. Driving with the HDSpark. Can't beat the price even though I'm sure most of you enjoy a larger screen. Just thought I'd add to this 'sticky'.Alan. If the Storm is set as the output device then EDIUS is not in software mode and the STORM is sending out an SD picture.

However your screen does not do SD through HDMI. It may work as NTSC frames rates, may work in 16x9 but not 4x3, but is not working at the resolution you are using.Whether a screen will work in SD through HDMI is variable.

More and more modern screens seem to work but not all of them. I could not tell you whether the new Samsung does works - the only way to find out is to try it in our experience. This is one reason to buy the STORM HD or STORM Mobile. If the HDMI does not work in SD you can use component instead which always works (assuming you are using a TV).
