Description of gameThis game Cannon Fodder - DOSBOX working perfectly with emulator DOSBOX, you can download on this web site. From private Jools’s diary: I had lost everything before I signed up for the army, my wife, my kids—I had nothing to live for anymore. That’s why I joined the craziest unit in the army itself, that’s why I became a cannon fodder. The training was brief. They basically just showed us how to fire a gun and how to arm a grenade. In only took a week or so, we’d go on our first mission. We were two, they dropped us into jungle to stop a small smuggling operation. My heart was pounding so hard I was afraid it would burst into pieces soon.
I had to get my crap together asap. There was a job for us to be done afterall. We—me and my number two—had made our way through the damn jungle and found our target. They never knew what hit them. I killed two and Jops one. It was a strange feeling, to just stop someone from living. For a while we were just standing there, staring at each other, not knowing what to say.But then the helicopter returned for our extraction, and we just thought: screw that, you’re just soldiers following your orders. That’s how it goes.
In the army, there’s no time to think about the good and bad in the orders you were given. And so we just got up to the chopper and tried not to think about what happened no more. From SFC.

Jools’s diary: Through the following days there were several more jungle missions. A few other guys joined us, but the majority of them is now dead, may they rest in peace. But me and Jops, we’re holding up. We’re like brother’s now.We were ambushed the other day in the jungle. Enemies comming from all sides, north, south, east west Orders are orders. We blew them to hell, along wit their installations, only to be sent out to another god-forgsaken country.Snow, snow everywhere.
We were to take out an enemy base. There were so many of them. I don’t even know how we three—Jops, specialist Stod and me—managed to get the hell out of there.
I don’t feel anything now, when I send someone to meet their maker. I have no mercy. Just like they would have no mercy with me.
It’s my job, it’s what I do.From SSG. CJ’s diary: I’m working here for a while now.
More risky the operation is, the more likely it is to be ours. I always looked up to Jools.
He was an experienced veteran. A hero.We were sent on a routine mission. Peacekeeping operation in the jungle. Only this time they were prepared for us more thant ever. We’ve gone to clear a small village.
And the god himself must have stood behind us back then, because I don’t know how else we could have possibly got out of there alive. Yet we did.Only to live for another second, where the god left us. A single grenade. Jools, Stod and RJ all bought it and dropped dead instantly. I was left alone.Since then I have a problem to sleep.
A few shots of whisky do help a bit, but hey, that’s rare goods in hereCannon Fodder is a top-down action-strategy shooter, where you control a group of soldiers—their movements and shooting. The game, released in 1993, was developed by Sensible Software, with Jolls Jameson as the lead programmer and Jon Hare as the lead designer. It was released on all major active platforms of the time: Amiga (the original platform), Atari ST, Acorn Archimedes, SNES, Sega Megadrive/Genesis and others. At the time the game was critically aclaimed by both public and the critics, both praising its gameplay, graphics and soundscape.Encouraged by the previous succes, in 1994 Sensible published a somewhat less successful yet still well received sequel: Cannon Fodder 2: Once More unto the Breach. After the Sensible studio went bancrupt in 1999, it was sold to the Codemasters. A third installment in the series was alternately being produced and cancelled several times, until the franchise was eventually licensed to the Russian Game Factory Interactive, where it would be updated and released as Cannon Fodder 3 in 2011.However, the third and last installment gained only mixed reviews, with PC Gamer magazine giving it only a score of 53%.
