Norton Ghost 9 Latest Version
Latest Version Of Norton Security
Like many of you, I've supported Symantec for many years. I've also created backups of various systems (running on various older Windows versions) that I occasionally still reference.
Unfortunately, since Ghost is no longer supported and even worse is incompatible with Windows 10, I feel totally abandoned. I've talked with tech support and after much discussion (seriously, it took a lot of time to wring it out of them) found out that anything that Symantec/Norton has for Windows 10 won't read my older backups. In other words, the file format has changed. This might be solved in several ways. Symantec could put a product out that still performs all the Ghost functions using the original file format. Symantec could create a program that performed the read/restore functions of Ghost.
Symantec could create a conversion program that changes the old file format to something that its newer backup programs can use. There may be other acceptable solutions. But unless I'm mistaken, Symantec has badly screwed me over. I definitely expected more out of them. Why else would I have used Ghost for as long as I did.How have you solved this problem, or have you just given up on your older backups? (Since Microsoft forced the Windows 10 upgrade on me, I simply don't have a spare computer to install Windows XP or 7.
I also have never run a virtual system that I could run XP or 7 on and even if I did, I have no idea of how to configure one.)Scott. Smblackledge,You can get Ghost 15 to work in Win10. See this link:.
I've been running it fine although I've had to redo the procedure with each Win10 major update. I've run all my backup schedules and I have done a C image restore to a spare HD successfully. That being said, I've found a free one built for Win10 that I downloaded and have been using for a few weeks now.
It's AOMEI backupper. There is a paid version that gives you a few more options which you may or may not need.
The interface is different from Ghost, but if you read the manual a few times it seems like the new 4.0.2 version works pretty good. I've made system images, created their emergency boot disk (Win PE type) and have restored an image to a spare HD without any errors. While there are more complex programs that may give you many more options, this one is simple to use, is fairly quick and with a little studying should work fine as a Ghost 15 replacement. Hello,I was very surprised to see that SSR 2013 is now a Shareware! You can find various opportunities to obtain the last version 11.1.6.55604 from various sites as karanpc.com, minidl.org, soft4pc.com. You need only to ask Cortana with the line:'Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 11.1.6.55604'.
Clearly when you ask some Symantec technician, he can't say that the product is now free! This version 6 is the last one published.
It works perfectly with Windows 10 Anniversary and you can prepare a SSR Iso Disk. I am using it since January 2017. Apart from the legality of taking the intellectual property of Symantec (it still is even off the market) why bother with on old product based on an even older product (PowerQuest) that Symantec bought when there are several current free utilities that are even better and are kept uptodate?I use the free which is compact, can be installed on a thumbdrive as a bootable version using WinPE10 rather than dropping out to Android and is user friendly for imaging and backup. A plus factor is that you can open and access the contents of an image file using Windows file manager. You can then extract a file if you need it. Macrium is a UK based company so they are aware of European languages! This is in the Help file for version 6.1This is in the under Languages - I am on 6.3 and you can switch/toggle?
From English to German with Ctrl + Shift + LGerman Language SupportMacrium Reflect Home, Workstation, Server and Server Plus now includes German language support. Macrium Reflect Free edition German language support will be coming soon.Macrium have some of the best online help documentation I've come across anywhere and this bit is atSorry it does not include French yet but you could ask their plans. 'karanpc.com' is a scam website. I don't recommend going there unless you have protection. Just for the hell of it I went on their website and was instantly greeted with numerous popups asking to click on links and one that would not let me close it unless I clicked OK.
This is typical behavior of malware and possibly ransomware. STAY AWAY from karanpc.com. The other two that were suggested, minidl.org and soft4pc.com, are probably malware too.Nothing is free unless you want your computer ruined. I was attacked last year and had to throw my laptop into the trash because it was ruined by malware and nobody could fix it. If you have Acronis True Image you can use their Acronis Try & Decide to be safe then don't save anything from their website.I already have SSR 2013, but wanted to see if there was an update I didn't have since finding updates from Veritas is very difficult.
I do have the first update Veritas issued about a year after Windows 10 was released. It might be the last update from Veritas for this version. MezencevR:I want to complete the last URL:(from unpeutropjuste)You don't have to 'complete' it if I understand your request. Although the active link looks shortened if you have the status bar active right mouse click on the address bar and select Status Bar on IE for example and hold your mouse pointer over the active linkyou will see the full URL code:vox.veritas.com/t5/System-Recovery/System-Recovery-2013-R2-ServicePack6nowavailable/m-p/753190/highlight/true#M2911The reason the is missing in the above is that I copied it from the toolbar link where that bit is hard coded. Exact: for me, in France, the problem is solved.
VSR 16 uses the same format as Ghost15 (and SSR 2013). Try it freely for 60 days on:. The file is named SystemRecovery1616.0.156016MultilingualProduct.zip. Unzip the file and execute Browser.exe to install VSR 16. Now you have 60 days for finding a Veritas retailer in your region and for renewing your Veritas account.
The price is very moderate. When it is made you have to log on 'my.veritas.com' where you download the VSR 16 key: that's all!:-).
